Under the direction of East Henderson drama teacher Zachary Walker, the students brought home top honors from the regional NCTC competition at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee three weeks ago for their performance of "Crossin' the Line," a serious drama by Phil Bosakowski about the aftermath of a drunk-driving accident that kills a popular and well-respected teenage girl.

Just as Billy Bigelow returns to Earth from Heaven unseen in the Dramat's fall mainstage "Carousel," this weekend "Carousel" returned to New Haven.

Rarely do you find a local play especially written and directed by a Zimbabwean getting international acclaim but for Loupe, it seems it has achieved more than just an average Zimbabwean production.
Since its premiere at the Harare International Festival of the Arts last year, Loupe has had a good run both locally and abroad.
However, there seems to be more than meets the eye as one looks at the script.
This is an amazing show with amazing energy from two actors who could easily and convincingly switch to many different roles. There was evidently a lot of investment in the direction, the acting and the costume design, which kept us, glued to the show until the end -Mark Donoghue

On Oct. 29 The Johnakin Players attended Francis Marion University's opening production of Sam Shepard's Buried Child, a perspective on the disillusionment of the American Dream.
A story of how people and society bury their shame and how they cope with that shame.
The students and the adults in attendance came away with many questions regarding the play's content, context and the metaphorical meaning.

Leonard Bernstein's, Stephen Sondheim's and Arthur Laurents' musical retelling of "Romeo and Juliet" moved the story to 1950s New York with Puerto Rican and Euro-American teens in rival gangs and two lovers who cross that line.

"The Crucible" is a time-honored play written by one of America's greatest playwrights, Arthur Miller, and is currently being produced by the UA Drama Department.
The play revolves around young girls accusing prominent members in Salem, Mass., of being witches and how their lie sends the community into turmoil.
